Wonder Woman, Black Friday, and a Cruise Ship: Buzz Week in Review (The Newsroom)

The Web is for everyone. And this past week, the searches seemed to come from all over the place. There were Web lookups on a lighthearted celebrity tiff, interest in looming Black Friday sales, and big searches on a crippled cruise ship that finally made it back to port. Theme? Who needs a theme -- this is the Buzz Week in Review, and it's got a little bit of everything.

Dare to diss Wonder Woman
There are some things you should just never do. Never run with scissors. Never mouth off to a traffic cop. And, most importantly, never diss Wonder Woman. Apparently, Megan Fox didn't get the memo. Last year, the oft-ogled actress spoke out about the ongoing rumors that she's in some way destined to don the superhero's tiara in a Hollywood adaptation. Fox called Wonder Woman a "lame superhero." Ouch! Lynda Carter, who was anything but lame when she played Wonder Woman on TV, recentlyspoke to Access Hollywood about Fox's remark, and said she was mostly perplexed by Fox's remark. "I thought that her comment -- she just didn't really get it. Like, who trashes Wonder Woman, right? What is there to trash?" The lighthearted snub inspired a slew of searches on Yahoo!. Everything from "lynda carter wonder woman" to "wonder woman movie" soared an invisible jet.

Prepare for the fight
It's only mid-November -- we know, we know. But you'd never know it from the looks of the Search box. This past week, Web interest in all things "Black Friday" roared like an over-caffeinated shopaholic. During the last seven days, searches on "black friday deals 2010" jumped over 200%. But wait, there's more! Online lookups for "black friday ads," "black friday sneak peaks," and "online black friday bargains" also posted epic surges. Still not impressed? There's more! We also saw a tremendous number of searches for "wal-mart black friday," "target black friday," "toys r us black friday," and "amazon.com black friday 2010." Indeed, while the economy may be rough, people still love a bargain.

A cruise ship returns
The stranded cruise ship (cursed with the bitterly ironic name "Carnival Splendor") finally made it back to port this past week after several days without power, hot water, and hot food. Upon docking, passengers of the ill-fated journey spoke about the experience. A popular article from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette explains that despite the absence of air conditioning, working elevators, and (ugh!) toilets that flushed, people did manage to find humor in the experience. The 250 magicians who were onboard for a convention entertained the passengers, and several live bands played. And, yes, one band played the song from "Titanic," drawing laughter from the passengers. The cruise may have been a bust, but their hearts will go on.

Also buzzing this week...
? One of the world's first personal computers, the Apple-I, is up for auction.
? Cindy McCain and many others spoke out against bullying LGBT youth.
? LeBron and the Miami Heat aren't looking so hot.
